    yeah i cant do that because hes the slowest thing in the tank and even if i put a piece right next to him, before he would get to it my diamond goby or nassarius snail would devour it. should i take him back to the lfs so he can go on cleaning other tanks?

    So I picked one of these up today on the advice of a friend at the LFS. I was looking for something to turn over sand to keep algae (and the occasional diatoms) down.

    After reading up on them tho, I am wondering if they will do more harm than good. Aren't most of the inhabitants of a live sand bed beneficial? Wouldn't feeding them to a voracious predatory seastar be detrimental to the tank over all?

    I am wondering if I should maybe take it back.... ? I think the owner would let me.
