Just finished swapping my crushed coral for a thin sand bed(about 1in). To keep the sand clean I added a small sand shifting star, and WOW the things is a beast, its covered every inch of he sand bed and devored every scrap of algae/leftover stuff from the substrate swap in a single night. So now I find my self wondering what to supplement its feeding with, since i dont think the stuff in the sand is going to be enough. I read alot about it before buying it, but I didnt realize it was going to be so good at its job, and most sites i normally get my information from say it will feed itself.

the plus side is if he keeps it up my sand is going to stay really clean.

I got one about a week ago myself and it has already cleaned my sandbed as well... love him... doen't show up often ... maybe once a day... guess he's too busy!!!:eek:
Here are a couple of pics of mine... it's quite large maybe about 3-4 inches.

You'll need to target feed it periodically. Some Formula One frozen food shoved into the sand will work.
