No offense, but with that much LR, on a FOWLR, do you need it?

Do you have any Chaeto in your fuge?

    Export/algae/diatom/cyano problems?

As a related topic, I still had a little cyano, so I built a DIY simple reactor out of a small gatorade bottle, and I put PhosGuard in it. I put about a 1/4-1/2 cup every 3-5 months, and NO MORE CYANO!

Yes, I have chaeto in my fuge. I just setup the fuge a week ago. I'd like water to be clearer so I was running carbon would help.

Oh, why yes George, running carbon WILL help tremendously.

I Filter sock/bag on your overflow return to the sump will halp also.

YOu can even put the Carbon in a mesh bag, and drop it over o0ur return pump's intake.

    Hello Kimberlee,

I had started this thread, that I think has a few links in it that I used to build this simple cheap phosguard reactor, which actually lowers even undetectable levels of phosphates and silicates. If it's undectable, how do I know?
Well, they were reading 0 and I had cyano, After running my DIY reactor, in about 2 weeks- no more of it
