High for me. Took me a bit to save up for it because I had to take my doxie to the vet but I have been wanting it from the beginning! It literally eased my mind when I got it hooked up.

One of the most important things I bought, was my RO/DI. Not because the benefits it provides your tank, but because of the sheer reduction in labour. You can then redirect your water-gettin' time into something more productive for your tank.... like a nice water change.

It's even more important being on a well. Wells can have all kinds of nasties in them, especially for a sensitive reef tank. I suppose there's a rare chance a well could be rather pure, but I wouldn't bet on it.

If you work at a small shop (not a chain like PetCo/PetSmart), I would check with your boss to see what you can get and at what kind of discount. To have any equipment or food at all, they have suppliers, which would probably offer RODI units from brands like Kent and Coralife. If they give you a discount (and any non-scumbag that's running a mom-and-pop type shop will give employees a very significant discount, sometimes down to cost), that would be much easier for you to get price wise.
