Most definitely. You have minerals and pollutants that you don't want to add to the tank. Salt mixes have all of the minerals in them already.

It has for me on city water. I had problems with high nitrate and phosphate. Once I got one and all the water was changed out all of the corals took off and look much better.

have you tested your well water? what are the tds levels?

with city water, theres always an improvement, but never used well water myself, so cant really say. But if u get any tds readings from it, using an rodi system will most certainly help.

i would imagine the well water is extremely hard. do you have a softener?

I got an RODI unit because 1. HATE going out in a snow storm to get water (yes I have done that LOL) 2. Because I don't want to use tap because its not worth crashing my tank over. I love having it because if something horrific happens I have it in my house ready when I need it. :) I love it!

but in comparison to other things for a tank, how high up on the list of importance would this be expecially for the price?
