I am starting a 40 gallon reef and I am trying to set up my RO DI.

I want to make say 20 gallons of RO DI water, treat if with Kalk wasser and keep it circulating for as long as it lasts, I assume a month or so.

Is it OK to keep the prepared water in a covered garbage can with a power head circulating the mixed water for 4 to 6 weeks.

Is there a better method ?

    Thanks

I am unsure if keeping it that long is advisable. I have never done this, so I don't know but I think bacteria would do something unless you kept it completely air free, which would cause other issues. Why do you want to store it for so long?

I understand that you can store ro/di for as long as ya want. They do in the stores. Just keep an air tight lid on it. As for storing it with kalk, I've no idea sorry.

I believe this may be the directions if your using an ATO(auto top off) setup. Your talking about storing the water for up to a month. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in soon.

I use old milk jugs to store my water in and I have some kalkwater in one of them that I store and have stored for... 4-5 months now. I just shake it up to get an even solution since it does settle on the bottom of the jug but thats me.
