Ok I want one that is easy to can control wavemaker, dim led, have ato control and of most all easy and user friendly. Im leaning more to the rkl is the extra money worth it to get apex just to have wifi connect?

I am researching the same thing right now, between the same two controllers.

Almost every single source points to Apex as the better controller for the money.

I am not familiar with the Apex, but I do have a RKE on my 33, and a RKL on my pico. The RKL is limited to only 4 modules where the RKE is like 60 or something crazy. The issue you may run into as I did is on LED dimming. I had the AI Nano and was running the ALC module to control dimming. The ALC on the reefkeeper would only run a 2 channel dimmer, therefore you had full control over the whites, but you did not have independent control over blue , and royal blue, they had to be used as one channel. I eventually ditched the ALC for the AI Controller.

If you DIY your LED's and only want 2 channels of dimming then you should be ok. For ATO with the RKL you will also have to buy an extra module like the SL1 .

Did you look into the Reef Angel controller? If you are concerned about money, and can DIY a little on your own, that would be the way to go. Apex is a better out of the box solution, but you are going to pay for it. Reef Keeper is a distant third, IMO.

To me it looks like you would have to mod the fixture and do away with the pots. That fixture seems to be setup for manual dimming , not automated.
