Really? I've done some research and it says they suffer high mortality rates because of the way they're collected

Yes, but hundreds of neons in a tank is very cool. This would be the same way IMO - big schools would be sweet.

yes but at the apparent fatality rate who would want to take the chance. also with such a high fatality rate the price is probably unbelievable and i would much rather have a colorful fish that didnt cost quite as much. also collectors for online saltwater fish retailers are completely separate from the storefront ones. the store order off of wholesale sites such as segrest farms and they collect their own fish.

The high fatality rate, as described in my link above, is apparently due to bad shipping practices - as according to the director of LiveAquaria. He even said they're a "rock solid" fish when done properly.

These guys are cool, I've seen them in my LFS on occasion. I think they were ~15-20 apiece, which isn't bad at all if they're cared for properly the whole way. Very pretty when there's 10 of them in the holding tank schooling.

my apolagies, i thought it said collection practices, also the way the waltwater guy was putting it it wounded as if they were nearly impossible. i have seen these fish on occasion at the lfs and i do agree there isnt much cooler in this hobby than a school of fish.... or a clown and its anemone.

I looked into getting those and also read that they have a high mortality rate and are poor shippers.
