    I was thinking about getting a refugium to control nitrates and algae. what is better a in tank or outer tank system and wich on? thanks.

    Both systems work well. Usually space and size are the determining factor. How big of one are you wanting? What kind of macro?

    Some HOB filters even work well for a fuge. You could set one up pretty easily to house a couple of mangroves.

    how many mangroves would you recommend for a 150?

    thanks and i dont know what kind of macro and if you do an in tank one would you need a seperate light above it?

    No you shouldn't. Enough from you display lights should hit it.

    I would go with chaeto and mangroves if you do an in tank. You can have the mangroves poking up through the chaeto. If you decide to use a power filter I would just use mangroves so you will not need additional lighting.

    So then will the refuge kill all of the bad algae on my rocks?

    There is no guarantee but it will help suck up the nutrients the algae needs to live.
