Ive got a MJ 600 that I always had in a freshwater tank.Im fairly sure I treated that tank at least once with copper based meds.
Is there anyway to soak that pump or clean it so that I could use it again in a SW environment?

i believe that once it has been exposed to copper you can never use it in sw but im not too sure either. if i were you i would just go get a new one to be on the safe side. i dont think the mj 600 are very expensive. jmo

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Soak it in some SW over night and test for copper. It also depends on the type of copper used. The fact that copper was used once is not a deal breaker IMO. Depending on the size of the tank you want to run it in also, in a 75 gallons system I honestly can not see it leeching anything substantial back into the system. There is always a small amount of copper in SW anyway. Just test for copper and see.

You could run it in a bucket of water with a quality activated carbon for a week or so and then it should be fine.
