I know the rule is to wait 2 or 3 weeks between adding fish, but I have a couple questions about it.

Is there any way to know when your tank is "ready" for the next fish? If you measure levels every couple days and dont see a dip in waterquality after 2 weeks, is your tank ready?

Also, does this rule apply to adding things like a CUC or inverts (Skunk shrimp are what I'm interested in :) )

    Thanks!

Wait at least a month in-between fish additions. Just because your numbers return to their existing levels does not mean the tank is ready. Time is the best insurance.

With CUC's - just as long as there is enough "food" for them available to "clean up" - then there really is not much of an appreciable increase in bioload from a CUC. Same goes for inverts - they add so little to the bioload and tend to add a layer to the CUC that they can be added with almost no waiting inbetween provided parameters and tankspace permit.
