Ok so I have a question conserning on QTing a fish before adding it to the main tank.

I know this is a good idea but for example a tang. Can you put a tang on a 20G if it's on QT period before adding it to the display? Won't this stress the fish to much?

Let's suppose you qt every single fish and introduce them ichless. Does this mean you won't be getting ich no matter what?

Also... What if you have a large tank ( like mine) with many fish in it.
And you get ich... How can you let your tank fallow? I mean where are you going to put all of your fish in? ( means we have to give them up? Or buy another large tank?)

what about corals? How do you prevent ich to come in from corals?

    Forgot to mention..

What do you do to a fish that is on a QT tank in the waiting period? Do you treat the fish with something or anything special to the tank?
Or is it just like.. It's in qt so if it gets ich I can treat it as soon as I see it?
If so then what if the fish in qt gets ich, and you treat it.. Does it mean you have to wait 4 weeks before another fish for qt?
    How does that work?

Sorry for so many questions lol but I've been thinking about this or a LONG time without any specific answers..

Experts say 1 qt for every fish in your dt but that's unrealistic imo. A tang in a 29g qt didn't work in my experience. It was becoming to stressed so I had to change plans and add it to the dt after only 1 week.
QT for new fish is a time to watch the fish and let it get used to seeing you. I treated for internal parasites as preventative but since no visual illness was seen in my goby and clowns I didn't treat for ich. It was later when my wife suprised me with a royal gramma added straight to the dt all of my fish had to be removed to two 10 gallon tanks to be treated for MI. The tang went to my lfs and was treated there in his own borrowed 55 setup.
For a 120 I'd qt everything you put in. You definately dont want an outbreak, what a nightmare that would be.

Lol 1 qt per fish??? That's impossible in my case... I have close to 20 fish.
And unfortunatelly I got ich but it's only my foxface. I know If you see it everyone has it but the rest of my fish are all eating and acting normally. The reason why my foxface got it was becase he jumped out and I'm guessing that stressed him out big time.

I don't wanna qt him since he is already stressed.
I would Like to take all my fish out but there is no way since I have no place to put them in other than a small 20G tank.

I think I got ich on the first place because of my regal tang.
Since I didn't have a place to qt.. Although he seeme healthy at the store:(

I wish I could help you more.:( It's a tough situation with the stock you have because if you don't get all of the fish out and treat them the weak will surely die and those that have the immunity will still be miserable. Maybe someone will with a larger system will help you or you can google Lee Becca. He's an expert in marine fish diseases and treatments but I warn you..if you contact him he is going to tell you seperate qt's.
