A piece of pvc cut in half, from about a 3" pipe. Will it bond well to the bottom of a tank with reef safe silicone (GE1)?

Personally I think ill be fine, it densest have to be water tight, just set in place, solid so it wont move. I want a BB tank, and wanna use that as a "Pillar" of sorts to base my scape off of. TIA.

I've used the GE1 silicone for my sump and I'm very happy with the results. I think you should have no problems applying it on PVC/Glass Make sure you make it thick enough and that you spread it half an inch on/around the PVC and another half inch on the glass around the PVC pipe just to have a bigger surface area for it to hold from.

I'm not sure, but I don't think that the silicone will bond well to the PVC. Maybe you can fit it in place with the GE1, let it set, and then if it doesn't hold well - pull the PVC off and superglue that to the silicone since that will hold to the glass.

It holds very well. I use silicone on most of my connections inside the sump so it's easy to remove later and I've never had a leak.

Thanks for the replies. I could even scuff up the PVC to help the silicone get in the pvc and adhere.

That was a good idea. Scuffing the pipe, that is.

How did it all turn out?
