    Hi All,

I have had a Purple Gorgonian for about a year now without issues. It's been growing nicely and has more than doubled in size since I got it. In the past week or so, I have noticed a translucent stringy growth from the ends of just 2 or three branches.

My water parameters are all within range and nothing has been added to the tank or changed within the last 2 months.

I have never seen this before in the year that I've had it and was wondering if maybe anybody knows what it is. I have two links to images below:

    Thanks in advance,

No idea either. But just to be on the safe side it couldn't hurt to just prune it off.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Looks like Mesenterial filaments to me. Mesenterial filaments are used in digestion as well as defensive means against another coral.

Thanks all for the replies! I have never heard of "mesenterial filaments" before, but it does sound plausible. I do have a colony of mushrooms encroaching, maybe they're irratating the gorg. Looks like it's time to remove some 'shrooms.

Thanks all again for the replies.
