Pumps

? Since everyone is trying to stay away from the mag pumps. I am looking for a return pump was looking at the mag12 but after I read about them trying not to use it. So what you guys think the next best pump in the same GPS and hit is. Internal only.

 

Why do you believe that people should not be using Mag drive pumps? I have been using them and found them to be very reliable and efficient.

 

I use mag drives, have for years. No issues at all with them.

 

I quit using Mag pumps years ago except for mixing new saltwater due to their noise, heat and power consumption.

I would recommend a Water Blaster HY-5000 instead of the Mag 12. I used Eheims and Ocean Runners for years with great success but the Eheim 1262 and OR 3500 are a little smaller than a Mag 12, more like the Mag 9.5.

Much lower power consumption, almost totally silent, lower heat generation and excellent flow and head capabilities. I switched to the HY-5000 and its almost too much for my overflow compared to the 1262 or 3500. It draws less power than both of the previous pumps too which is a big plus since it runs 24/7/365.

 

The mags have a rust problem after awhile they start to rust the screws and the inside. Don't know if its ok to tell where I read it since its on a different forum.
