Today, while doing a water change, our puffer started panicing and trying to jump out, swimming into the glass, splashing around...Then she jumped on top of some emerged rocks cutting herself in a few spots. We got the water back into the tank as quickly as possible but she's been discolored, sitting on the bottom (sometimes on her back or side), and when she tried to swim she seems disoriented. Is their anything we can do to help her?

I would turn the lights off and let her rest. She should calm down with the lights off.

I agree with rmelvin killing the lights, and maybe put a blanket over the tank if there is a lot going on in the room.

Just curious, when he got out of the water onto the rocks, did he puff up? Sometimes if they puff out of the water, they can get an air pocket stuck, and its usually not good when that happens. =/

No, no puffing. But she did end up dying earlier. It was really sad. She was the first fish I got. And she was the biggest in the tank so she was like the boss-fish. I guess she just freaked herself out so bad that she just couldn't get herself right again. Thanks for the advice though...

Are you still trying to catch fish locally for your tank?
We are doing the same thing, we go to Coral Cove and under Cato's Bridge. We could use some help.
