I have a Koran Angelfish that I have had for a couple years. The fish is beautiful and healthy, but seems to be having a cosmetic issue (at least I hope it is only cosmetic). There are no scales on it's head/face, and for the life of me I can't figure out why. I've rearranged the live rock in the tank many times to give the maximum amount of swimming room, so I don't think the fish is constantly scraping itself on the rocks. Is this something that I can fix? If so, what can I do? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

it may be that its beginning to change into adult colouration
but I think I noted in your Say Hello thread that your tank is 46 gallons
which even without any rock in, is probably a bit small for a Koran
and it may be damaging itself

post some pictures if you can, as that might help someone ID the facial markings your describing

I agree with Steve. 46 gallons is considerably too small for those fish. they get big really quick. it could also be caused by stress in that environment

Having trouble posting pictures, but my husband and I are planning on doing some tank swapping. Our reef setup in the 90 gallon are going to go in the 42 (the fish in there are rather small, so they should be fine) and move the Koran in the 90. Hopefully this will give it enough room.

not really sure if a 4' tank will be good enough for an angel that gets that big, might be OK (and certainly better than the 46) for a while, but eventually a bare minimum of a 6' 125 might be in order.
