So basically what ends up happening is that the display tank will continue to drain after power outage until over flow box in tank can now longer get spillover from tank and my u-tube will suck the rest of the water out of the overflow in the tank leaving obviously no prime left in the tube

I think your u-tube is too short. Mine reaches almost all the way to the bottom of the overflow.

sounds like you need a longer u-tube. is this u-tube the stock one? the tubes ends should always be below water line even during a power outage/draining. my u tube is a like 3 inches below tank's water level located in the inside/tank box.

No its not. Or at least I do not beleive that it is. I get good deals at work when I piece together used, but in good shape stuff. Needles to say I got a sump and both overflow boxes for forty bucks (my boss loves me) ;D. But that is besides the point. It is one I found lying around the shop. So you are saying too short on the end that is in the DT overflow box right and not the one hanging on the back? Thanks you guys so much for your time. KARMA ALL AROUND!!!!!

most likely its the front tube end, but having them longer front and back will help and not hurt.

Eshopps doesn't make a wier box. They all use U tubes.

OP if you're using a wier type box you'll need to do like Night-rida said and get an aqua lift pump. But I would suggest looking into an Eshopps pf model. I run two and wouldn't own any other brand. The never loose siphon because the ends of the U tube are always below water level.
