So heres what i have found and think this is going to work. I will have the strainer end of the bulk head behind an overflow to maintain the water level of the display tank.

My only question now is water movement and parts. I want to make sure i have a good outlet to the sump. I think i will be safe with the 1" bulk head. Where can i get all the parts i need to make this all work. Overflow box (is black better? need a cheap solution), bulkheads, and pvc parts for the durso mod(home depot...DUH)

Make sure that the pipe on the top side of the T extends up to just above your tank's water level and drill a small hole 1/8-1/4" in the center of the cap to break the siphon.

If the power fails, the return pump is not going to be pumping water back to tank. The water level will lower, with a proper syphon break on the return pump line. Why would i need a syphon break on the output if once all the water passes the teeth of the overflow the box will be emptied and no more water can flow?
