    Hey Guys,

    I was in Howard Beach NY yesterday and found some cool stuff attached to the bridge underwater........

    Can someone ID this Beige stuff?? It feels like some sort of sponge...

    Also found some Rock with Orange Sponge growing on it......

    Any Idea's ?

    Welcome to 3reef.

    Hard to say for sure but it does resemble sponge. Typically I used to find tons of sponge and marine bryozoians.

    The problems I found with collecting them is that they are very difficult to keep in the average aquarium, not enough suspended food particles and that they also introduced all types of nasty little hydroids and arthropods that wanted to eat my other tank inhabitants.

    Very cool stuff though

    may be good for a sump if you have a lit sump and welcome to 3reef and merry christmas to you

    Thanks ---- The only difference is the color. The stuff I have is beige :)

    there are alot of color morphs

    here is a red morph i had for years and then it was gone on well that the way it go's sometimes
