couple days ago had a fire when goldie spit water onto a plug...thankfully had a GFCI that shorted out when water hit, or else would be much worse!

actually it did not, i had it plugged into a GFCI outlet that shorted it out when the water hit. If the strip was actually a GFCI I dont think it would have even caught on fire initially.

this was an old post from back in October. Unfortunately Goldie and everything else in that tank died last week due to a pump failure

Something is not right, a properly functioning GFCI should not allow that much damage to occur. Have you had this looked at?

I agree.. When my girl plugs in to many things into that bathroom GFI it pops due to load. When something burns up this bad, it's creating a HEAVY load and did not pop soon enough.. It wouldn't of been this bad. I'd would check the GFI out or replace it.. They do carry at Home Depot weather resistant GFI outlets or even better, install it in the breaker panel with a GFI breaker. Well worth the money..
