So the other day I was adjusting my crappy Aqueon brand PH and the bracket that holds the PH to the suction cup broke, so now my PH just sort of dangles in the tank by the cord. I found a new home for it though - i have it rested against my hydrometer and it's aiming directly into my big rock causing great flow through the rock and through the back side of my tank. It's a 30g tank and I'm getting about 30x water flow. Just wondering why more people don't direct their PH's directly into their rock work - - also would I benefit from replacing my two PH's (one now broken) with a bigger over rated more powerful PH? The idea that one big one is going to be better than two small ones?

i had one of my turbines break also so now its held in place by a shroom filled live rock slightly pointing down at my live sand. where there is a will there is a way or better yet "Improvise, Adapt and Overcome" ;)

other than this i have 2 PH one in each corner who shoot the "stream" at each other so when the 2 streams crash in the middle it spreads movement everywhere, its really effective.

I have the smallest of my PHs pointed directly at my rock work. I have the other two large ones flowing by them but not directly at them.

The idea of using PH is not just to create water movement, but to create chaotic water movement like in nature. This keeps your corals from constantly being buffeted from one side and gives your fish great exercise. I would go with 2 PH to help achieve this and possibly look into wavemakers or other such items.

you should have no issues with using rock to prop up your powerhead until ya get it replaced with some nice koralias or vortechs ;p
