My digitata has been extending polyp for a couple days, though it may be due to a goby nipping it. My encrusting montis, Undata, and setosa are doing fine, extending polyps and all, but not the Digi. Ca is a little low, still within NSW parameters, but my alk was at 2.0 Meq/L so im getting that up slowly. Can low alk mess with polyp extension, and would that only mess with the digi and not the other corals?
PS my green slimer for some reason doesnt get nipped and his polyps are great.

im not sure how it affects each coral individually but i know when i fixed my balance all of my corals opened up sooo much more. so i would say yes low alk will cause them not to open to the fullest. so maybe you think they are open when indeed they are not.

    I had a similar situation

I have 3 frags of different coloured Monti Digitata
2 opened up daily with full polyps covering the whole coral
and the 3rd one was open for 1st week and then closed , opening just a few polyps here and there

all 3 where at same level approximately so I concluded light was not the issue
all 3 where in same tank, so I concluded parameters where not the issue

flow was the issue I eventually realised and moving that 3rd Digi to an area of lower flow, caused it to start opening all polyps again 3 or 4 days after the move

I've had this problem with my digi. When I got it, the polyps extended during the day just fine. It stayed like that for a few months. Then one day, no polyp extention. It may be b/c of flow as Steve as said as my parameters haven't changed much. My sunset monti is slightly affect, but its polyps are still out about 75% during the day. At night however, the polyps come out. As my digi colony grew, it grew closer to my MP40, so that could have something to do with it, Unfortunately, I really can't move the colony around, so I'm living with it. All my other sps are normal, even my undata which I recently added.
