Spent 6 hours straight sanding and polishing today and it was worth every minute to see this tank return from the dead. This tank was scratched everywhere inside and out, deep scratches, shallow scratches, and scuffs. This is why the tank was free for the most part.
I have never sanded acrylic before and its a bit daunting after that first pass of 800g and you can no longer see in but in the long run its extremely easy if you just work smart, heres what i used and the results speak volumes.

    Items I used
    Black & Decker palm sander
    Wet/Dry sandpaper in 800,1000,1200,1500,3000,3500 grit.
    Novus 1,2,3
Microfiber towels, one for each grit used and for each step of Novus.
    Spray bottle
    Sponge
    5g buckets

WOW that is amazing! It looks like a brand new tank! Nice work despite the arm loss. :)

Started building external overflow, 40" x 4.5" x 5", holes are drilled for 1" bulkheads. Setting up router to cut a slot in the back of tank, scary stuff.

For the record weldon 16 sucks, messy, stringy goop. I decided to reinforce my seams and assure that there would be no leaks so i used 1/4" square in all the inside corners. I ran out of weldon 4 and a friend gave me some 16, this stuff is not fun to work with but did the job. Thank god this will be hidden behind the tank. :)
Oh how i cant wait till this part is done and I can start the sump and plumbing.

Finished the external overflow and starting to plumb. Little nerve racking taking a router to the rear wall but it all went smooth. Also drilled the corner bulkheads for the returns.
