Ok so I'm sure a lot of y'all have seen me around 3reef for awhile now and tomorrow I will hopefully be starting my cycle on my 29g reef tank. Fingers crossed that I have everything to get it going lol. While I'm no expert at this hobby by any stretch of the imagination, I would like to thank everyone who has answered my random questions over the last 2 months. This forum has taught me a lot. Well that being said let's dive into my specs.

    29 gallon tank
    Eshopps overflow box
    45lbs of ls
    40-45lbs of base rock
    36" coralife lunar deluxe pc lights 96w x 2

    10 gallon sump/fuge
    2" sand bed
    2-3lbs of base rock
    Maxi jet 1800 return pump
    Tunze 9002 skimmer
    4" filter sock

I haven't purchased my skimmer bc let's face it, I don't need it right now. I was also wondering about the light for my fuge. I have an 11" coralife mini aqua t5 light but the white light is 10,000k and correct me if I'm wrong but that's not the proper spectrum for macros. I'm sure there are random odds and ends I left out. I'll load pics tomorrow, if I get it done.

Sounds like our are pretty prepared but can you even fit that much rock in a 29? I'd be impressed.

Well I'm gonna try, I got 50lbs from reef cleaners. I mocked up my aquascape and only had 2 smaller peices left over.

You are off to a great start!!!

Sounds like you have been doing your due research!!!

I would agree with you in that the 10K light is not the best for macros.
They like slightly lower spectrum - like between 6500K-7500K seems to work really well.

That little T5 tho sounds PERFECT for your application - just throw a new bulb in there and watch everything take off!!!!

    Best of luck!!!

Thanks everyone, I came down with a "cold" today so I stayed home from work. Everything else around the house is done so now I'm gonna make my last trip to Home Depot (hopefully) and get started on finishing it.

Is that a good idea? To pin the shrimp under an extra mag cleaner? Didn't want it flying around...

    Looks good.

I've heard of people using pantyhose to hold it in. When it starts to deteriorate I would assume it will come off the mag cleaner.
