Hey guys, I think it is very important for you guys to not go by the first thing you read in a forum. There are a ton of very smart reefers on this site and a whole wealth of knowledge to dig from. This is why I suggest browsing multiple threads on the same topic before jumping the gun. Everyone makes mistakes and everyone does things in a different manner than the other. What works for me may not work for you. I'm not downgrading anyone here but never take a single person at gospel. The key to being successful in this hobby is Research, Research, and more Research.

I couldnt agree more. I've made so many mistakes in the past doing what other people told me to do with my system because it worked for them.

Very well said Daniel. I couldn't agree more. Everyone has their own way of doing things and their own opinions about how to do them.
Please do what's best for your fish/inverts/etc as they are living creatures and deserve to be treated with care and respect. Don't simply toss things in your tank because some one said you could. Research different threads and if need be, different websites. Too much research is never enough.
Even some of the people who have been in the hobby for 20-30+ years have made mistakes and continue to learn new things each day.
If you find a subject that has two or more different opinions, continue to dig in order to find the safest route for your tank.
One rule that will never change is PATIENCE IS KEY!
    Good luck and Happy Reefing!

he also hit it on the mark here..!! PATIENCE IS KEY! And like Daniel said also Research and lots of it... Never be afraid to post a question no matter how silly it is... If you think it is Silly Pm a few people you think that could answer that question and see how many of the same idea's or answer's you get...

Like alway's just my salt encrusted 2 pennies...

    Best of Luck...

*Koff-she-koff koff* Hmmm...must have something in my throat that isn't an Adam's apple.... :hair2: Lol. Its ok. Just about everyone thinks Im a dude.

You're right tho, Ask questions, whether you think its silly or not, and if you're embarassed, look for a moderator or even Matt and ask them if you don't know who to talk to about it.
Its best to make threads tho so we can all learn and share our experiences and opinions.

I only half agree. Plenty of folks are new to forums and/or the internetz. Pointing people to search features is like teaching a dude to fish instead of just giving him a fish to eat.

Now doing that in a smarty way or a thoughtful way... that's different :cheesy:

Agree with daniel 100%. Everyones personal experience differs, but when people express their opinions or singular experiences as "written in stone" facts, thats when the real confusion sets in. Especially when its mis-information thats being parroted across the internet.

I disagree with phoenix however, because the most valuable thing I learned as a beginner was how to search for what I wanted to know. Be it 3reef search, google, or wet web I will continue to advise people to use these tools to find the most basic and useful of information.

I suggest that everyone does things differently. I have learned with this hobby that everyone has their own opinion. So I would take their advise and apply your own experience to it.

Like ive said before, what works for one wont work for another and vise versa, theres always the exception to the rule.
