Well, it is a little small for a mandarin IMO. You first need to think waaaaay ahead (as you are obviously doing) and prepare. They eat pods primarily and rarely do you find a specimen that will take any sort of prepared food. The general rule of thumb is to let a tank mature for at least a year (probably can get away with a few months less) before introducing such a fish. And I would load it environment with about 50 lbs of rock. That's a lot in a 29g but you need to have a place for them to live and reproduce. A fuge would be a good addition if you have the room for one. My tank has been going to ten months now and I have been preparing for a manderin for the last six months. I have seeded my tank twice with copepods and am planning on seeding one more time now that my fuge is present and accounted for.

So that would be cool......Seahorses and a manderin. They are compatable. I would want to see lots of pics when you get that finished!!!!

o dont worry i plan to show it off theres 30lbs of LR now (LFS GAVEME A DEAl) im starting to build my own fuge tmrow also you can just get a bucket sponges and a heater by copepods and feed them nad apparently it works just as well(but i think the fuge would be cooler) but idk cheaper the other way
