will try to get better pics later on!
The tank is a 5.5g with a screen lid that locks and the filtration is simply an airstone and a simple sponge filter. For lighting I have a natural sunlight uv light that I have next to the tank.

We also have another new addition to our household.....one of Curts customers brought in a mantis that is now housed in Bob's old tank! I am not sure yet what kind he is but is very cool looking, all green and is about 1.5 inches long. I know it is a smasher, could be a spearer also...dont know. We acclimated him into the tank and we are letting him get settled in before disturbing him to much!

Can he stay in a small tank like that? Can you add corals? How hard would it be to take care of him?

I m thinking of adding a small tank like that to the bedroom. Gf wanted a project tank so...

    Thanks!
this one will be able to be kept in that small of a tank...however there are a lot of things you have to do to keep him "stimulated" One problem with octopus are they are VERY, VERY intelligent! The last one I had I truley think it was smarter that I was! If you dont keep the stimulated and change the stimulation frequently, they will actually die! The develop something called somnelence...similar to human alzheimers! They are constantly looking for a way out of the tank! I think I told this, but I had a bimac which was a larger octopus in my 29g biocube. I had every possible exit sealed off, placed guttter guard, astroturf, taped the lid down with duct tape, etc. I thought I had it perfect, no escape artist could get out of that! Until one night he did and he crawled over to my predator tank and tried to eat them! One fish jumped out and died (large scorpion) and my golden puffer ate him! Only was able to find little tentacle in the predator tank!

The other thing about octopus is that their natural lifespan is only 1 year to 15months max. So you spend a lot of time and lot of money on them and then they pass! They are very difficult to keep, they do not tolerate any type of swings, esp in salinity or nitrates!

I have this tank in my bedroom on top of my dresser also! If you do decide to get one there are a lot of good octopus sites out there that will help you learn all that you need to know,,, it is tonmo.com
