    My guess is that it's a Galaxea sp.

    Nope, don't think that. Look closely at the polyps on the bottom of the pick, they're daisy shaped and quite large. It really looks like an Alve or goni, possiably an encrusting type. ID will be impossiable with out the closed shot though. Id starts with the skeleton.

    i tried to get it closed but even at night its open...when i touch it the closed looks exactly the same but the little tenticles r gone

    Edit: lol after looking back at the pic it dont help what i said...well it fell over and guess what...it was still open...wow tough little bugger...well what i do know is it is an encrusting coral :)

    Touch it, then snap a pic. If not, try for several different angles and post those shots.

    Bah, a goni would close all the way up, as would a alve. Such large polyps. They don't connect, so I doubt it's a hydno, which was my other guess.

    hmm o also, this is more rare they r usually green, i saw i big colony in their 300 reef...lol does that help?

    It's a hydnopora I'm pretty sure. Encrusting variety.
