my current plan is to re use all the sand and rock from my 55 gallon tank and reuse it in my new 220 gallon tank with 120 gallon sump/fuge.my current plan is to get a large garbage can put the lr in it with water from the tank.put the fish in the garbage can with the rock remove old sand into a rubbermade tub with salt water in it and agitate, drain the water repeat. do this afew times and then add it to the new tank with new sand an live rock currently curing in a tub. then bring in all the old tanks live rock and then lastly the fish

    opinions?

I have never been succesfull using old sand. I use a couple of "scoops" of old sand to seed my new sand. The one time i used old sand when i upgraded from 34 to a 55 caused me alot of problems and had to upgrade again to a 180 (in about 5 months or so). Hey wait a minute maybe using the old sand did work out for me;D

lol... im figuring any ammonia or nitrites/trates will be diluted out into the 300ish gallons of water plus all the rock is fully cured so it can handle it... i hope
