When I bought my mandarin almost 8 months ago she was kinda skinny, and the pet store had her eating brine. Well I like a challenge, so I stuck her in my 16 gallon nano with a 10 gallon fuge. My fuge was still young and the tank.. small. I used a baby formula syringe with airline tubing attached to it. "An idea I found on another site by Seedemtails." I first used all brine. The movement from the brine in the tube stimulates the Mandy and bam! She's waiting for more to come out of the tube. She now associates the tube with food. Mix some mysis with the brine and.. tricked her! she may spit it out sometimes, but keep trying. Eventually she will eat it. I did the same with pellets. She likes them crunchy though.. mushy ones get spat out! Hope this helps those struggling with an impulse or "I can save you!" buy. Mandarins are so cool and mine follows me around the tank. I love watching her and am so glad I was so "lucky" to get her to eat frozen and pellets. ;D

Might I warn you though.. it's a lot of work and dedication.. if you don't have time to do this routine 1-2 times a day, your mandarin might not make it. They have a very high metabolism and cannot compete with fast moving fish for food. So a lot of attention is needed to make sure your mandarin is getting enough food. ;D

Thanks me too. I took a chance knowing she would die in that tank. Work was way worth it.
