Last year I voluntered to drive rescue pugs from St. Louis to Kansas City as part of the rescue! It was so awesome because many times I would be taking them directly to their new owners, and I got to see how happy the owner was. And of course I got to spoil these dogs on the trip

My avatar picture is Oscar my rescue pug that I had to put down a couple years ago. He was from a puppy mill originally in Anchorage Alaska whose owners moved to Kansas City. I am not sure how they survived as outside dogs in Alaska but when they moved to Kansas City thankfully the rescue took them however it was only after all the dogs but 2 (Oscar and Oscar's father) died from heat. These dogs dont do well in heat and have major breathing problems. I think there was like 10 dogs that died (Luckily they had not established yet in KC)

Oscar was my best dog that I have ever had. His temperment was amazing, very lovey and just a good dog all around.

Growing up we rescued one other dog, a mutt named Maggie. She was the other best dog we had. When we got her she had bruises all over her and her eye was swollen shut. This rescue was at Petsmart and for some reason i went in to look. The rescue told me her story and I knew I had to bring her home. She and her brother and a cat were dumped in a field during a horrible ice/freezing rain storm. The rescue was notified adn they went to get the dogs. The brother ran off (later rescued) but Maggie would not leave. She was dragging something and wrapping herself around this thing. Come to find out the cat died from the elements and Maggie would not leave it. She was trying to keep it warm.

So when we got her, she was so afraid of everything, and wouldnt walk. We had to push her out of the store in a cart. When we got her home, she ran under the dining room table and hid. We couldnt get her out, so we fed her under the table. Then I got the idea to bring my cat to her, and she came right out for Snickers and wrapped herself around the cat. The cat was pissed of course but Maggie then started to improve and was an awesome dog

WOW those are truly amazing story! Bless you for everything you have done! RIP sweet Oscar. I believe rescues give you 110% of what they have then some. Buddy and Sammy are like that. Sammy was like Maggie in the beginning. He was so afraid we thought he was going to die from not eating then Abby decided to be friends with him and those two are inseparable now.Sammy does anything for Abby and Abby for Sammy. Abby came to us first then Sammy then Chico (he moved to MT with me after we got married),Macy, Buddy, (other rescue Rocky who owns my parents now) and now Leo.

OMG, I love those pictures!!!! My LFS where I get everything has a Persian they rescued from the cold, ice and snow a few months ago. She had a broken paw so they took her to the vet and now lives in the store. I love carrying her around because she is SOFT and has a friendly personality.

The calico is just beautiful!

Doxies, I believe, have a very unique personality. They have a mind of their own but are as loyal as can be. I hope you get some more because they are one of the most amazing dogs IMO. Once we move I plan on helping my friend with her doxie rescue: fostering and/ or adding to the family.;D

This is Emmy. I found her curled up against my neighbor's house (at my last house) when I was mowing the lawn & she was just a tiny kitten. At the time, I had 2 dogs and 2 other cats. Between 2003 and 2006 I lost all of the other animals to old age, so Emmy is the only one left. She's a weirdo LOL. She has bonded more with my boyfriend after he moved in, though I'm the one who takes care of her (he teases her mercilessly & she loves it LOL).

She is a lovely! Abby is weird too, she likes talking. Cats love punishment (not abuse), they are resilient little creatures. How old is she now? I hope you have many many more happy years with her!

She is soooooo cute! I have a whole toy box of just those bobos! Then another toy box with other toys LOL Do they know what what dog breeds are in her? I can't stress enough that is a cutie pie!

Petmother I love all your critters! I love critters too. I have a bunch, and I have down sized since I opened my home daycare.

I have 2 mini horses Raven (she was a wedding present from my husband 15 years ago) and Giddy
Up. I have a mini jersey named Jenna, a fat cat named Fryer Tuck, a giant rabbit named Bo, a wallaby named Quigley, my husband has a Shephard named Kimba she will be 2 this year. I lost my dog Sandy back in Oct. She was only 7. She was 110% mut. I just got a new puppy for Christmas, her name is Sadie and she is Kimbas's half sister, they have the same Dad. The wierd thing is she was born the day my dog died.

Anyway, I also have about a dozen chickens, a 33 gal FW tank, 100 gal fish pond, 12 gal SW tank and a 6 gal SW tank. I think thats it.
