Don't know if I ever post pics of my furkids but they were the first loves of my life. One was a rescue, one was a foster, one came from a nasty nasty horrible pet store so hubby took him in and the other was a from a breeder in Tx.

This is Buddy. He is a Black and Tan Long-haired Standard Dachshund. My friend took him in as an owner surrender and I adopted him from her. His life before my friend was almost classified as neglect. This picture was a few months after we had him so his coat was still dull. He is my special boy.

This Miss Macy Mae. She is a black and tan piebald long-haired mini Dachshund. She came from a breeder in TX so she has no bad history with her. Macy is a MOMMYS girl 100%.

[IMG]This is Samual Adams. He is a red short haired mini Dachshund. He came from a NASTY NASTY pet store that I refuse to go to ever again. The only reason why we do have him is because Sammy was a week away from being put to sleep since he was there over a year and no one wanted him. He was scared of us, refused to eat, didn't play with any toys and wouldn't sit on the couch. As you can see that all changed LOL

[IMG]This is Leo. He is a black and tan short-haired mini Dachshund. He came to me as an owner surrender because I am known as the Dachshund lady at work. His home was very kind to him but he didn't fit in. I took him in and he fits right in with the other three. Leo was only to be a foster as I looked for a home for him but failed and is officially part of this family.

This is Chico. He is a momma's boy too. He is a gray and white non-pedigree cat. I found him on my Uncle's farm covered in cow feces and lost. I took him in, eye dropped fed him, taught him to eat hard cat food and use a litter box since he was barely a month old when I took him in. He is happy, healthy and has no bad affects from me nurturing/nursing him since he was a baby.

This is Abigail. She is a non-pedegree silver spotted tabby. This lovely girl of mine healed my soul. I got married a few months after my beloved Molly (cat) had passed away. We moved out of the apartment and into our house. Shortly hubby took me to go find a kitten because my heart was still breaking (been several months after wards.) My prayers were answered to find a new fuzzy love when we found her at a hobby farm here in town. She was the runt, tiny and scared. She was our first furkid as a married couple and she is bonded strongly with me. I love all my furkids but she has a very very special place in my heart.

Those are their stories, I hope you enjoyed. :)

very cool! I love rescue dogs! All the dogs and cats are awesome looking, however my favorite is the white/black Miss Macie Mae.

Last year I voluntered to drive rescue pugs from St. Louis to Kansas City as part of the rescue! It was so awesome because many times I would be taking them directly to their new owners, and I got to see how happy the owner was. And of course I got to spoil these dogs on the trip

My avatar picture is Oscar my rescue pug that I had to put down a couple years ago. He was from a puppy mill originally in Anchorage Alaska whose owners moved to Kansas City. I am not sure how they survived as outside dogs in Alaska but when they moved to Kansas City thankfully the rescue took them however it was only after all the dogs but 2 (Oscar and Oscar's father) died from heat. These dogs dont do well in heat and have major breathing problems. I think there was like 10 dogs that died (Luckily they had not established yet in KC)

Oscar was my best dog that I have ever had. His temperment was amazing, very lovey and just a good dog all around.

Growing up we rescued one other dog, a mutt named Maggie. She was the other best dog we had. When we got her she had bruises all over her and her eye was swollen shut. This rescue was at Petsmart and for some reason i went in to look. The rescue told me her story and I knew I had to bring her home. She and her brother and a cat were dumped in a field during a horrible ice/freezing rain storm. The rescue was notified adn they went to get the dogs. The brother ran off (later rescued) but Maggie would not leave. She was dragging something and wrapping herself around this thing. Come to find out the cat died from the elements and Maggie would not leave it. She was trying to keep it warm.

So when we got her, she was so afraid of everything, and wouldnt walk. We had to push her out of the store in a cart. When we got her home, she ran under the dining room table and hid. We couldnt get her out, so we fed her under the table. Then I got the idea to bring my cat to her, and she came right out for Snickers and wrapped herself around the cat. The cat was pissed of course but Maggie then started to improve and was an awesome dog

This is Emmy. I found her curled up against my neighbor's house (at my last house) when I was mowing the lawn & she was just a tiny kitten. At the time, I had 2 dogs and 2 other cats. Between 2003 and 2006 I lost all of the other animals to old age, so Emmy is the only one left. She's a weirdo LOL. She has bonded more with my boyfriend after he moved in, though I'm the one who takes care of her (he teases her mercilessly & she loves it LOL).

I too would be classified as a dachshund lover. They are incredibly loyal, brave dogs. This is my rescue. ZooZoo. Shes a mutt.
