So i am doomed to surf 3reef for awhile and get new plans and ideas. When I was moving my 180 I had a mishap and it broke. I will be getting me a new bigger system. All corals and fish survived. Now have new homes. I just want to thank everyone one on this amazing site for all the help they offer and knowledge you give out. So in the mean time I will be deciding on size and shape of tank what kind of tank.

With that in mind what are people's thoughts on a 3'+ deep tank

IMO I'd MUCH rather have a 36" wide tank vs a 36" tall tank.

If you mean 3' front-to-back, I love them. You never really appreciate the depth until you have/see it. 3' tall? Not so much. Cleaning it is a royal pain.

I've had a 30" tall tank before and vowed never again. I'm 6'2" and just the extra 6" over my standard 24" tanks meant getting a step to be able to get to the bottom and almost always getting my sleeves wet.

I had a 265 I really didn't like having to reach for the bottom. Luckily that's rarely happens. But they are sweet to look at & enjoy. Sorry to hear about your 180, that's a real bummer.

Sorry to hear of your mishap, I hope my tank move goes well....
I'm with the others... if I was to have a tank over 2' deep then I'd better be able to use snorkel or dive gear to clean it, as it is I always get my shoulder and shirt wet as I'm only 5' tall.

yeah, tall tanks are just much more difficult to do any thing with.
