I'm about to take this bottle of Melafix and do bad things to it!

I had an Anthia that got pop eye so I decided to use this stuff since it says its reef safe. I used it for ONE TREATMENT and the next day the fish died. Thats not my problem. My problem is that I did a 25% water change and have had to empty my skimmer 7 TIMES!

I have done everything, water changes, carbon running, EVERYTHING. Currently its overflowing back into my sump. It just instantly fills up.

I used ONE treatment of this stuff. I will never use it again!!!!!!

Just so you know melafix if i remember right takes some time to dilute in the system, I think its three days then a WC. Skimmer should be off the whole time of the treatment. as well as carbon and other things removed from the system that take out stuff like that.

I have used melafix many times. Never seemed to have the issue you have.

i used one dose of it, waited a week, the fish died two days later, I put carbon in for about 5 days, just did a water change, and its still overflowing.

this stuff should be called Mela-make you wanna kill yourself

I would recommend treating your fish in a qt tank, however if you understand melafix its not guaranteed to treat anything. They are herbal remedies that do kill some bacteria and not others. They people that make it actually only know a few strains it treats. Its like a shot in the dark.

If you have a QT you may as well bust out the big guns that kill a whole lot of bacteria.

I thought a full treatment is 7 days then 25% wc?

And ya.... making your skimmer go nuts is not a big secret. All you can do is wait till it's gone.
