    bought six mangroves for a steal. i put them in my sand is it okay that they are underwater. my tank is 30 gallon do u think its is gonna help. i feel that i should have used my money to buy a skimmer instead :(

    The leaves should be above water.

    Yes, the leaves(if they have them already) should be above the water. If they are new kinda with no leaves make sure the tips are out of the water and spray them with RO water every couple of days to keep salt off of them.

    Also a skimmer is a good idea down the road, mangroves cant do what a skimmer can....
