I was reading posts here and have resigned myself to not getting a Mandarin Goby. My tank is only a 55 and will never have the food available for them. Then I remembered another goby with the same shape that we used to call a Psychedelic goby. They are more like military camo in color rather than the blue / purple / red. Do they have the same anoying feeding requirements?

The psychedelic goby in question sounds like Synchiropus picturatus, or spotted mandarin fish... It has the SAME feeding requirements as the mandarin you turned down. All mandarins are going to have the same tough feeding requirements, the "dragonets" like the scooters are almost as bad but they tend to be easier to wean onto frozen food.

Nice choice skipping the mandarins! You did a good thing!

    Happy reeefing

Thanks for the fast reply. I assumed it had the same requirements but assume is a bad word.

I hate loosing fish and it really sucks explaining to my 5 year old daughter why the fish is getting eaten or flushed.

Good points on both making assumptions and losing fish... both are bad!

    Good luck!

Glad to see you care and not buying on impulse and loosing a fish. Can you try to cultivate the pods your self. another member on here has a set up dedicated to cultivating them and it was cheap. Search Packleaders thread if you are inreested
