Hi i'm new to the hobby and i have a 112g tank. i'm in the 3rd day and have already added the water salt and caribsea live sand . do i have to wait for the water to cycle or can i just start adding LR? i live about 20min from the sea, and does the LR have to cycle? i have done no test thus far. should i test and make sure everything is ok first?

    Thanks
    Jarr

Yes you would have to add your LR before you saw any cycle

Go ahead and add the live rock. Are you getting the rock from the ocean?

    Welcome to 3reef! :)

Are you planning on adding rock directly from the ocean?

Collecting live rock from the ocean is a federal crime. Just for your info.

It is, in protected water space...... Since this person doesn't show their location you can't simply assume they're in 1. The United States and 2. In protected waters.

OK, it may have been wrong of me to assume poster lived in the US. But no, it does not have to be in protected waters. The collection of live rock in the United States is illegal, PERIOD, no matter where in the US you are.
