This is probably a really dumb question but is live rock heavy? Lol...like is a 6 inch rock going to be 10lbs or are the pieces relatively light weight?

Depends on the rock, some of my fiji rock is very heavy but some of my marcorock is a lot lighter in comparison.

they vary, depending on type or rock, Warlord
some is more porous than other and also number of holes and crevices with reduce some of the mass/ weight ratio

but yes they are heavy as live rock also includes water

Well, kinda depends on the rock. Just like land rock, rock from the ocean has varying degrees of density and porosity. So rocks of the same size can exhibit very different characteristics and therefore vary in weight.

you may be able to from your LFS, in which you could select pieces based on shape etc

you do not need to fill your tank with live rock
you could bulk buy base rock (dry rock) and then cherry pick 2 or 3 pieces of live rock to seed the base rock

the good thing about that method is
    it reduces costs
and it reduces the ratio of unwanted hitchhikers and pests you end up with

You can buy nice base dry rock which is usually cheaper and get some attractive pieces of LR to seed the base rock with.

    Edit:What Steve said lol

I would get two, you will be able to provide flow, try to get something that you can change the position/direction of the head, something like a Koralia.
