Lighting ?

    Starting mt 55 gal reef soon and looking into light but not sure how bright i wanna go. ill mostly be doing lps corals and just need to know some good light fixtures that are out there that are within a reasonable price, 1-200 bucks. Any help would help

    55's are tall tanks. Look for high output T-5 fixtures for LPS.

    ok about how many Watts per gallon would i be looking for?

    A four bulb fixture would probably do pretty well for LPS. Tech makes really reputable T5 fixtures.

    Although I am an encourager of T5HOs, many people with a successful 55 run 1 400w MH pendant 14k. Just a thought

    That's a lot of wattage, you could get by with half the wattage using T5's.

    Not discounting the idea of course, it's good to consider all options.

    I personally have T5s and am very happy with them. My tank is very tall and they provide sufficient lighting...

    hellolights has a 4 bulb T5 retro for $199....216wts. That would be perfect if you could fit all of them and the reflectors.
