My lighting came with 3 LED's integrated into the fixture for the night-time effect. Much of what I hear from other enthusiast, is to not use these as they drastically increase and promote extreme algae growth. I've yet to use them more than an hour or two, on two separate occasions. Should I steer from using these lights? This tank is approximately 6-7 weeks old.

That is seriously the first I've read that anywhere. I've read that they stimulate coral growth and health. I've read that they do nothing but provide asthetics. Never anything about algae growth. Mine are on a timer that simulates moon phases and no nuisance algae problems here. :)

I'm in agreement. I've never read or heard about lunar LEDs causing algae problems.

I think more harm would come from keeping them off and not enjoying your moonlite tank every night;D
