I was looking at the several led supplement threads and started researching more. With the lower prices now instead of putting together a 12 led actinic strip I can do a 24 led with a 48" heatsink for 170 from rapid led.

My question is, I am running two 250w mh on my 75g now. Should I spend the little more for the 24 leds, or will that just be too much? Should I just get the 12 led kit and order a 48" heat sink as well?

What are you looking for out of the LED's? Do you just want some actinic supplementation, or are you trying to reach a specific look? I can tell you that I had 12 on a 84 gallon half-round as supplementation lighting, with no optics for optimum spread, and got the "20K" look I wanted (with 2 14K Phoenix).

Yeah I just want them as supplementation, I am running phoenix 14k's also and I guess I want a little more of a 20k look. I have mostly SPS, so I was wondering is I add the 24 kit, will it help much with growth, since I am already running plenty of light? or is it not really worth it. Do you have some pictures of you tank?

I'm not running that lighting setup anymore. I have gone to full LED lighting. If you were going to add 24 Royal Blue/Blue LED's, I wouldn't think it would have too much bearing on your growth. If you were to add white and blue LED's, then you would have more growth lighting for your corals...however, that would defeat your purpose.

I have a 75 gal. with 2x250watt MH and running Phoenix 14k. The actinics went out and I relaced them with 2 Ecoxotic Panorama LED Modules.Ecoxotic Panorama LED Module It looks good but isn't placed where I would like. I will try to put up picks of them on and off.
