BhBefore I was using WM mg supp. And I switched over to kent 3 days ago butlike its not bringing my mg up? I tested the big 3 over the course of 4 or 5 days and my mg seem to be decreasing. It says use 1ml per gallon each day and it will increase my mg by approx 18. This is my params as followed

    24alk 2.16 meq/l. Ca 410. Mg 1230.
    25alk 2.50 meq/l. Ca 440. Mg 1230. Ph 8.3
    26alk 2.39 new/l. CA 440. Mg 1230
    27alk 3.08 meq/l. CA 430. Mg 1230
    28 alk 3.30 meq/l. CA 430. Mg 1200.
    29 alk 3.08 meq/l. Mg 1140. CA 410.

Thus this how I dosed according to the params

    27th: 15 ml CA. 20 ml alk. 6:00pm. 15 ml mg. 10:00pm
    28th: 30 ml alk 8:00am. 50ml mg.
    29th: CA 10. Alk 15. Mg 90 6:30 pm
    30th: CA 10. Alk 15. Mg 60 8:00 am

My stocking are mostly lps 2 clams and 5 sps frags shouldn't decrease that much. So where is my mg going?

I use esv 2art dose for ca and alk

what are you using to test mag? I used salifert before and thought my mag levels were low but it did not make sense since I use red sea coral pro salt. I got the red sea kit and my mag was not 1100 it was 1400!! just a thought before you keep trying to dose.

I use kent and use the average dose but mine still stayed low but b-ionic is very good or just double dose your dank for a week or 3 days then test it.

You can increase your Mg 100ppm per day safely. That would be a dose of 750ml. I would look into getting another test kit in case yours has gone bad.

    MG 1230
    alk 3.08
    CA 420

i want to get my MG up to 1300 - 1400 so i can start using Kalk

and i just realized my Alk swings are +/- more then .5 this is a bad thing correct? how should i fix this swings i got some SPS frags in there i dont want to stunt their growth =(

That is not unusual, my tank uses 2+meq/l a day. I use a doser and dose 12 times a day each for alk and ca. I dose at 2 hour intervals, alk on the even hours and ca on the odd. When you dose it is wise to dose alk an hour apart from ca and mg to keep the minerals from reacting and precipitating out.

Hmm.. now that you mentioned it I have been dosing all of them at the same time. Welll not the same but I dose after the water stops being cloudy, or waited at least 5 minutes. I think that's what I was doing wrong
