I have a Sleeper Banded Bullet Goby, when I bought the fish he was just over an inch in length, He is now just over 5 inches in length, I have never had a problem with him jumping but have lost other's in the past from them trying to fly! What makes a Goby jump from the tank? Is it just something they randomly do or is it done out of fear of something else in the tank?

The 2 reasons I have commonly seen given are agressive tank mates and/or inconsistant water parameters.... but then some are just plain prone to jumping also :)

I agree with the tank mates and water parameters, but they also tend to jump if they just dont' like the tank. For example, if there isn't enough hiding places, live rock, food etc. I had a yellow watchman goby in my 10 gal. quarantine tank, he jumped, but the one I have in my 55 seems to be perfectly happy, he has a lot more room, more rock, and has his spots which he has claimed.
