Are you running internal or external? How big is your tank? Have you tried putting a neoprene mouse pad under the pump to stop vibrations?

Is it a humming noise or a rattling sound?
I have a much smaller mag9.5 (950 gph) and until I put some padding under it, I could hear it rattling on the bottom glas of the sump. Now it's a very, VERY silent humm.... almost have to get close and pay attention to it to hear it.

Try panworld. They are extremely quiet and energy efficient.

I think the panworlds will be to small especially for the amount of power consumption

If you need absolutely quiet with high flow (not high pressure app), ATB Reeflo fit the bill. Pricey though .... but not as pricey as Red Dragons which also work.

Im my opinion, the Mag pumps are great, but they do best when used in a submerged situation. if you are going to do an external pump, use one that is designed for that, not one that can be used as either. I had a Quietone that was supposedly external safe that melted the carpet pad it was on. NOT GOOD. I used Reeflo pumps now and they are excellent

Reeflo/Dart pumps would probably be a better choice if you're looking external and lower noise. All the Danner (Mag) pumps are louder, but cheaper. You'll probably pay 2/3 for a Mag what you would for an equivalent Dart.
