Hmmmmm. That is an interesting idea. I cannot think of any reason why not. I would not have it running as the input to the fuge though. I would have it running inline with the return.

IMO UV is only beneficial to fish only tanks.

I would only use a uv if you have an outbreak of ick. not to run it full time.... and to run it inline with only one pump for the sump? no, then it would almost have to be a permanent.....

Oh, I was not talking full time use......just plumbing it inline and plugging it in when needed. No, do not run it 24/7. That is not good.

Ya, know. I am rethinking this. Changing the bulb would be a chore. No, I changed my mind. If you do it, plumb it separate.

I was told by lfs that a uv is a must for reef tanks,I did not buy it there, but I have been running it 24-7 since I got it. Should I turn it off?

I would turn it off. UV kills parasites and other beneficial bacteria. Are you having problems with ICK? If no then yes, turn it off. That, really, would be the only reason why I would use one. Also, there are other things to take care of ICK that don't kill off the good things in your tank too. ie..fresh water dips, cleaner shrimp.
