I love mine (ecoxotic reef kit) but it is definitely some work. ATO is a must. I smack myself every day that does by that I haven't set one up yet.

 

This is what I was looking at. I have GAP insurance on my old car that did not expire and I got a nice 300$ check back for what was not used when I had traded it in. Bit of that is going to finish of a medical bill. Then the rest to whatever.

Im thinking this is the route I might end up taking. However I wont order anything till tomorrow. I have a reef meeting to go and its at a sponsors shop and they will be offering 10% off.

I have the time for a pico right now. One thing though I maintain with my tank is testing and feedings and waterchanges. However Im horrible with topoffs. Maybe its because I can get away with it on larger volume tank? I top off at most 3-4 gallons a week. I mean I keep up with it weekly daily not so much.

 

Get a gem tang!

 

Dont think Gizmo Would approve. Last time I tried to add a yellow tang ... was the last it saw of actinics. Gizmos barb is still bent to this day.

 

Ahhh. Zeb. sp. are mean.... except Scopas. My lavender tang is going to commit sepeku

 

Zebrasomas are mean and unrulely. However Acanthurus can be plain ol... @#*(@. Take Achilles for instance. My Crapper of a purple tang. Is the baby of the tank now. The Achilles has put him in his place many times. IME Achilles are the meanest fish once settled in tang land. Thankfully with the addition of the flames the achilles didnt go after them.

My last killed anything after his addition to the tank.

 

oh man. I pass then. I heard alot of reportes of achillies being mena, but it seems like alot of people have sucess. i gotta teach my acanthuras not to run into corals.. hes not TOO bad (get a gem tang)

 

As much as I like Gems, Purple still has my heart from the zebrasomas. lol My achilles actually is the best swimmer around corals and rocks. He actually found a passage way from one end of my structure to the other.... No fish his size has ever done that Id say they are great swimmers.

 

I figure one of my powerheads is leaking current that only affects him he has been really wierd the last two days. maybe i should feed more.

If you do get a pico defenetinly get an ATO i was just talking about this to my wife it is probably the best equipment yo can get Cheryl is spot on.

 

Did I mention you should get an ATO.
