I'm interested in painting a stand black. I was wondering what paint Aqueon uses on their stands? What paint would you suggest? Thanks.

    Hi Nvism

is the stand wood? and have you stripped it down to the bare wood?
because with a wooden stand, my choice would be a dark wooden stain, as then you can still see the wood grain etc, but you get a nice dark colour

Good idea. Yes it is wood. The stand at the moment is painted with some sort of paint to simulate stone. It's grey with some sort of grit. I haven't decided whether to sand it down or just paint over it. What sort of paint would be best? Something that's water resistant?

Rust Oleum makes a water proof paint which i am using to touch up my 50 gallon project tank up with. the previous owner said he used it and the stand is 10 years old and barely shows any sign of wear. i just felt i should do a quick over since it hasn't had a fresh coat in 10 years even though it still looks great

Are you spraying the stand or brushing?

Using roller brushes. Spray paint would look like garbage.

Black stain called ebony (looks black with little wood grain). I am getting ready to upgrade to 125g building stand and thats what i found that looks very deep, rich and dark (almost pure black). Give it a look they sell it at HD and lowes.
