So far I think it's a Tamaria or Linckia... lemme know what you think it is. If you need a better pic, I can try to take one later. It is about 6-7" tip to tip.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
Your tank looks somewhat new, you are going to have to supplement it's diet as best you can.

Yes, I am aware. I've been researching, but am open to any experienced opinions.

I have always wanted a linkia but I hear they are very hard to keep long term because they starve... :( beautiful starfish tho I hope you can keep it for a long time.

That's my concern as well. They can starve, but it is my intent to watch it carefully, and suppliment it's diet as well. So far, it's been roaming around the tank quite a bit each day, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing (like a sign of active feeding/good health) or a bad thing (like trying but unable to find a food source).

Whether it turns out to be a success or failure, I'll be sure to post my findings, as it seems most of my reseach turns to dead ends when people do not post a followup on their threads... everyone is left hanging indefinitely. DRIVES ME NUTS!

your tank looks algae free, as above, supplement the diet, and try to target feed it.
Like, putting a food next to him since you wont be able to target it to its mouth since its probably hard to get to..lol

i have a blue linka star i have had it 10 months now. first picture is when i added it you can see the tank is new . second is it now.
had one a few years ago in my 58 gallon also. i havent a clue as to why they do well for me. i read about them and its seems unknown what it is they really need, there seems to be a few theory's on their care. i do feed my tank often and use all frozen foods. thats all i can think of. once they are acclimated i think they are pretty hardy. the main key i believe it to get one thats been collected/handled properly. liveaquaria is a good source
