Ich and Bulging Eye

Hi,

I have a freshwater tank along with my saltwater tank and am having a sick fish issue. My dwarf gourami has been acting listless for days, but all the other fish seemed fine. Then today I noticed Ich on his tail fin. I ran right out to the pet store and bought some medicine. I put it in the tank tonight but I'm afraid it's too late. Now I just looked at him and his right eye is bulging out. Can that be due to the Ick or is that a separate issue? What should I do? I hate seeing him suffering!

More than likely, it was scratching on the substrate or something else and accidentally scratched it's eye. That's the most common cause of popeye. I would make sure you are feeding it quality foods on a regular basis so it's immune system stays strong.

 

What medication did you get for the ick? A copper salt, malachite green or other? Some times if you get a broader spectrum type med it can combat both other times not really. Is the eye cloudy?
